The Communications Specialist reports to the Town Manager and is responsible for providing development, implementation, and leadership in the areas of marketing, internal and external communications, community outreach, and events, as well as public relations support, as needed.


This individual will be responsible for the continued implementation of the current Communications Plan while also developing & implementing comprehensive and strategic communications designed to broaden the outreach to residents, visitors, partnering agencies, and current and potential future businesses.


Scope of Responsibility:

  • utilizing various means of communication, including but not limited to: press releases, press events, newsletters, brochures, posters, flyers, articles, various social media channels, and website.
  • Maintaining the layout and content of a website and other social media pages.
  • Extension and protection of the marketing brand
  • Ensuring brand consistency throughout various communication channels.
  • Partnering with all other departments in planning and creating communications and marketing strategies, as well as advising on brand integrity and consistency.



  • PART-TIME:  expected 10-15 hours per week on average with varying hours dependent on demand of the week.  House could exceed 30 hours/weed at busy times.
  • Mostly WORK-FROM-HOME but various office visits and hours will be required (such as Monday staff meetings)
  • Schedule can be collaboratively set by employee and Town Manager.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is preferred
  • 2-3 years experience in marketing, media, press relations, or lobbying.

** Work experience can be substituted for bachelor’s degree depending on work experience.

Hayden Parks and Recreation Opening

The Hayden Parks & Recreation Board helps plan, direct develop and implement recreation activities and events to assist in promoting long-range programs for the development of the Town’s recreation system for youth, adults and senior citizens. The Parks and Recreation Board works in cooperation with Parks & Recreation Staff to achieve an ample diversity of recreation activities to meet established goals and objectives. Some current programs and events include peewee wrestling, baseball, softball, basketball, tumbling for tots, stokes gulch moto-x, Cog Run, Hayden Daze, Easter egg hunt, Harvest Festival, Autumn Tea.


The board meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:00pm at the Hayden Center. They are a working board made up of nine volunteers that reside within the town limits of Hayden.
