As Hayden continues to grow, the Town leadership is working hard to ensure that we grow wisely, improve our quality of life and protect the beauty that surrounds us. Below are key projects that are currently ongoing. As always, we welcome feedback from our neighbors on all of these, so please reach out to the Project Lead with any/all of your questions.
The Hospital Hill neighborhood in Hayden, Colorado contains a sanitary sewer system which was first placed into service in the 1960’s. This project consists of replacing approximately 1000 feet of 6 and 8-inch vitrified clay pipe and associated manholes, as necessary. Along the first 300 feet from Washington Street to East Jackson Avenue, trenchless replacement is being considered due to the low number of customer taps and site slopes which average close to 18 percent. The remaining 700 feet from East Jackson Avenue up South Spruce both trenchless or traditional replacement are being considered.
The Poplar Street bridge is a piece of local and regional critical infrastructure in dire need of repair. In 2020, significant corrosion in the bridge decking led to structural failure, allowing potholes to develop as asphalt fell through the bridge into Dry Creek. Subsequently, the town was able to perform an interim emergency repair of the decking, which has allowed the bridge to regain its stability for the short term. In addition to repairing the bridge structure, improvements will be made to the pedestrian crossing, which abruptly stops half way across the bridge.
The primary purpose of the Northwest Colorado Business District is to install the necessary infrastructure for the Airport area to develop as well as provide opportunities for our local businesses to expand and thrive. The Town is excited to support local business owners with this project! The project consists of two major “sub-projects”, hereinafter defined as Bid Schedule 1 and Bid Schedule 2. Bid Schedule 1 consists of all work within the boundaries of the Northern Colorado Business Park – a.k.a. Hayden Business Park and all work associated with connecting to existing roadways and utilities within the boundaries of the Yampa Valley Regional Airport property. Bid Schedule 2 consists of all work north of the boundaries of the Northern Colorado Business Park – a.k.a. the Highway 40 Interceptor Sewer. Bidders can bid any individual bid schedule or both bid schedules.

The Town will be scheduling some times in the coming months to hear from our residents about how we might reimagine this space for future use. All ideas are on the table and we want this to be driven by you, the Town. Keep an eye out on the Town’s FB page and other media for opportunities to get involved.
