Description: The Assistant in Training program at the Hayden Center is a volunteer program designed for our older students to help and mentor our younger students in the dance class setting. They will help with dance class structure, help demonstrate choreography, class organization, and be a role model for our youngest age groups (3 to 6 year olds). The AIT will learn leadership skills including but not limited to positive and effective communication skills, organization skills, teaching skills and more; they will learn the foundations that can build dance assistants into dance teachers. The AIT is a volunteer program for current Hayden Center dance students aged 11 and older. AIT students must apply and be accepted each semester.
Requirements: Interested parties MUST be currently enrolled in the Hayden Center Dance program to apply for the AIT program. Dancers must be in Ballet Four or above and dancers must pass a comprehension assessment with Ebany Rae.
What we need: Dancers interested in the AIT position will send in a resume and a cover letter expressing their interest and intent in the position along with their availability specifically pertaining to Friday mornings. What to expect next: After your dancer’s resume and cover letter have been submitted, you will receive an email just stating that it has been received and next steps. Following that, being round one the dancer will be moved into stage two setting up a phone interview. Upon passing the phone interview portion the final stage would be an in-person interview. From there, the candidate will receive the panel’s decision.
There are only two positions available this year and not everyone will be accepted. We do encourage all who are interested to apply! A parent will be asked to be present for both the phone interview and the in-person interview. Dates and times TBD by Ebany.
