FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, March 13, 2020 — Routt County Department of Public Health is reporting the first presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) in the county. CDC confirmation is pending.
A male in his 50s and a female in her 20s visiting Routt County were exposed to COVID-19 outside the community. The individuals went skiing and grocery shopping in the area prior to being notified of this exposure. The only locations identified during local contact tracing were shopping at a local grocery store and they went skiing on Saturday. Once the individuals were notified of potential exposure they immediately went into self-quarantine and have been cooperative with quarantine pending test results. Since these individuals are from outside Routt County, CDPHE will be conducting the state-to-state contact tracing investigation. Local public health officials initiated the local contact tracing investigation as soon as they were notified of this potential exposure and at this time there is no evidence of community spread.
