The Arts Commission is a powerful group of Hayden neighbors with a love for Art and Culture. This commission serves as a supporting group for the Arts & Events Director, Sarah Stinson. The Arts Commission meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm at Hayden Town Hall.

Sarah is a Georgia native who moved to Hayden in the fall of 2021 after living in Steamboat Springs since 2013. She has a BA in Fine Arts with emphasis in Studio Art, Graphic Design and Photography from the University of North Georgia. She moved to Hayden with her husband Charlie and their dogs Fuzzy and Leia. In her free time, she likes to draw, paint, take photos of her friends/family, play video games, and hang with her family. She is passionate about all things art and is dedicated to watching the arts thrive and grow in Hayden.
Bonnie Girton has lived in the Yampa Valley since 1977. She enjoys cooking, making delicious coffee for beloved customers and hanging with her dog, Desi. Bonnie’s background in the arts is wide ranged from playing piano in jazz band, singing with multiple groups, set design, participation in community theater and implementing art across curriculum while teaching first and second graders.She appreciates all forms of art especially dance and performance art. She is passionate about seeing the arts protected and empowered in education as well as in the Hayden community at large.
Cassie and her husband are relatively new residents to the Hayden area as of 2021. Cassie is very excited to be part of a small community and to be actively involved in the Hayden Arts Commission. She has been involved in visual and musical arts from a young age and is looking forward to bringing new programs and events to Hayden. When not working on an art projects, Cassie, her husband and two dogs, can be found enjoying all of the amazing outdoor activities that the Yampa Valley has to offer.
Courtney is deeply rooted in the world of dance and cultural expression, with a diverse background in various dance forms. She has been a part of the local belly dance troupe, the West African dance and drum ensemble and a local aerial dance troupe, bringing a rich blend of cultural influences to our community.
Courtney’s journey has taken her beyond state lines, where she had the privilege of participating in workshops taught by professional belly dancers and other renowned dancers, enriching her skills and expanding our local dance community.
For over nine years, Courtney choreographed and danced with Steamboat Dance Theater, leaving a lasting impact on our local arts scene. Teaching numerous community classes has allowed Courtney to share her expertise and make the arts more accessible to our community.
Courtney’s commitment to the arts and passion for dance have led her to the Hayden Arts Commission, where she hopes to contribute to the mission of fostering creativity, culture and artistic expression in the town of Hayden.
Ryan has lived in Hayden since 2017, having moved to the Yampa Valley in 2015. A grant writer by trade, he enjoys creative writing, including fiction and poetry. In addition to his fascination with the written word, he also loves music and dabbles in mediocrity on the bass and guitar. He’s been a member of the Hayden Arts Commission since late 2022, when he joined Hayden Town Council. His most prized pieces of art are the ones his two young daughters bring home from kindergarten and pre-K.
Routt county has been home for Katie’s family for generations, and hopefully generations to come. Katie lives and breathes anything and everything creative. Being part of the Hayden community through art is just another wonderful thing Katie loves about her life here in Hayden.
