Business Spotlight – Manes and More

Business Spotlight: Manes and More

For nearly 15 years, Liz, the owner of Manes and More, has been perfecting her craft in the hair industry. After operating her business from her home in Hayden since 2020, Liz is now preparing for an exciting new chapter: moving into a brick and mortar storefront. The new location, situated on the ground floor of the Main Street Apartments on W Jefferson, is set to open by late February. Keep an eye on Manes and More’s social media for the official grand opening announcement!

While the big move is just around the corner, one of our members from the Economic Development Commission sat down with Liz for a haircut and a conversation about the exciting plans ahead and what makes Manes and More truly unique.

Manes and More offers typical hair salon offerings like cuts and colors, but we asked Liz to explain what else the community can expect from her business. Liz responded that “the ‘More’ is a dress rental business where you’ll be able to schedule fittings and try the dresses on from the new shop.” The business is already planning to host an annual fashion show in partnership with Perry Mansfield. Hair styling for weddings and private parties, and community hair classes like teaching dads how to do their daughter’s hair can also be expected.

Liz’s passion for hair and makeup began in high school when she took part in a fashion show. Over the years, this interest blossomed into her own business that blends her love for hair styling and fashion. With more than 300 dresses in her inventory, Liz aims to provide the community with an easy, affordable way to find the perfect dress for formal events, from proms to weddings, without having to leave town.

The community has seen some indications of her new business location from the exterior, but Liz described the interior as “colorful chaos! The space will be bright and stylish and will have a coffee bar and complimentary drinks for the salon clients. There will be some dresses on display but I do recommend booking a fitting in advance so we can have the right dresses pulled for you ahead of time.”

When asked what if she has a message for the Hayden community, Liz said “That I’m excited for the growth and am happy there is room for small businesses to grow in this community. I appreciate the support during the transitional time.”

Having seen firsthand how the town’s residents often need to travel for basic services—sometimes dealing with Steamboat’s higher prices—Liz has made affordability a cornerstone of her business model. She believes locals should be able to enjoy luxury services without breaking the bank. “Locals should still be able to afford luxury” Liz explained.

Her commitment to providing high-quality services at reasonable prices helps make Manes and More a standout in the area. Liz has designed her business model to ensure that her clients receive excellent service without the steep prices often associated with larger towns.

What’s the best way to experience the offerings at Manes and More’s new location?  “Booking online is the best way, which will be live when the storefront opens” Liz indicated. For more information or to book an appointment, visit the website:
